Hamilton Sundstrand recognized by GE Aviation for outstanding customer service on the GP7200 engine program
Hamilton Sundstrand Corporation, a subsidiary of United Technologies Corporation (NYSE: UTX), was recently recognized by GE Aviation for outstanding customer service for its work as a GE supplier on the Engine Alliance GP7200 engine program. Hamilton Sundstrand’s Customer Service organization received an overall score of 6.3 on a Likert scale of 7 on its annual customer satisfaction survey sent to GE Aviation in November, 2011. This score translates to UTC ACE Gold performance.
Pratt & Whitney Signs Agreement with Australian Supplier Broens Industries for Additional F135 Engine Work
Pratt & Whitney has awarded Broens Industries a follow on purchase order to manufacture complex support equipment for the sustainment solution of the F135 propulsion system powering the F-35 Lightning II. This new order valued at approximately $300,000 is for units which will be utilized at the first operational and training bases in the U.S.
LifePort Awarded Contract by L-3 Platform Integration for VIP Completion of New 747-8 Aircraft
LifePort, Inc. today announced that it has received a subcontract from L-3 Platform Integration in support of a 747-8 Head-of-State Completion Project. LifePort will equip the upper deck of the aircraft with customized cabinets, partitions and a lavatory. Recognized as an industry leader in helicopter VIP Head-of- State completions, LifePort is a Sikorsky Aerospace Services (SAS) company – the aftermarket division of Sikorsky Aircraft Corp.

Pratt & Whitney Establishes Engineering Center of Excellence at Iowa State University
Pratt & Whitney has established a strategic research partnership with Iowa State University to improve gas turbine engine technology for aerospace applications.
The five-year initiative establishes a Pratt & Whitney Center of Excellence at Iowa State University. Research projects will focus on three areas:
- Non-destructive evaluation of engine components.
- Materials design and testing, including coatings and high-temperature materials that can withstand corrosion, in collaboration with researchers from the U.S. Department of Energy’s Ames Laboratory, which is operated under contract by Iowa State University.
- Aerospace thermal systems – improving how engines perform under a variety of conditions.
Pratt & Whitney and Rolls-Royce announce restructuring of IAE collaboration and new partnership to develop next generation engines for mid-sized aircraft
Pratt & Whitney and Rolls-Royce are pleased to announce a restructure of their participation in IAE International Aero Engines AG (IAE), which produces the V2500 engine for the A320 family of aircraft. Under the terms of the agreement, Rolls-Royce will sell its equity and program shares in IAE to Pratt & Whitney for $1.5 billion. Pratt & Whitney and Rolls-Royce also announced an agreement to form a new partnership to power future mid-size aircraft (120 – 230 passenger aircraft).
