Sikorsky, Boeing Partner for Joint Multi-Role Future Vertical Lift Requirements

Sikorsky Aircraft Corp., a subsidiary of United Technologies Corp. [NYSE: UTX], and Boeing [NYSE: BA] signed a teaming agreement on Jan. 13 to submit a joint proposal in response to the U.S. Army Aviation Applied Technology Directorate solicitation for the Army’s Joint Multi-Role (JMR) Technology Demonstrator (TD) Phase 1 program.

The JMR TD supports the Department of Defense’s Future Vertical Lift program to deliver the next generation of vertical lift aircraft with greater performance, reliability and affordability.

Indiana Student Wins Second Annual Sikorsky Helicopter 2050 Challenge

Sikorsky Aircraft Corp., a subsidiary of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX), and By Kids For Kids Co., an organization that inspires kids to become successful inventors, today awarded an Indiana teenager the Igor Sikorsky Youth Innovator Award for his conceptual design of a circular-shaped medical evacuation helicopter.

Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne successfully completed the last hot-fire test on the J-2X powerpack – an important step toward development of America’s next rocket engine designed for human spaceflight. UTC Aerospace Systems Connects Personal Electronics to Business Jet In-Flight Entertainment

UTC Aerospace Systems, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX); offers a variety of panels that connect any Personal Electronic Device (PED) brought onboard the aircraft to the in-flight entertainment system (IFE).  PEDs such as off-the-shelf audio and video equipment can be easily connected and integrated; HDMI, USB, VGA, gaming systems, RJ-45, and electrical outlets are some examples.  These cabin interior innovations can be seen at this year’s National Business Aviation Association’s (NBAA) Annual Meeting and Convention.  NBAA takes place October 30 – November 1 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, FL.

Pratt & Whitney’s Organic Rankine Cycle Power Systems Will Benefit Power Generating Facilities Certified for Japan’s Renewable Energy Feed-In Tariff Program

Pratt & Whitney Power Systems (PWPS) announced today that its Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) turbogenerators will be of benefit to power generators that qualify for Japan’s renewable energy feed-in tariffs (FIT), a government initiative to increase renewable power generation sources. The FIT for generating electric power from biomass and geothermal resources using PWPS ORC turbogenerators should play an influential role in increasing renewable energy investment in Japan.
