Sikorsky’s X2 Technology™ demonstrator team recently received the prestigious Robert J. Collier Trophy as “the greatest achievement in aeronautics or astronautics in America” in 2010.The team proved that X2 Technology can double the speed of today’s helicopters and greatly improve maneuverability while retaining all the positive attributes of a helicopter, such as ability to hover. Sikorsky is now designing and will build two military prototypes, designated the S-97 RAIDER™, that will incorporate this breakthrough technology.
