Sikorsky Aerospace Services and WIKING Kale Air Launch New Customer Service Center in Turkey

Sikorsky Aerospace Services today announced the signing of a teaming agreement with WIKING Kale Air to establish a Sikorsky-authorized Customer Service Center (CSC) in Turkey. Supporting the country’s S-76® helicopter platform, the CSC will be centrally located in the city of Istanbul, and will offer maintenance services for Turkish and regional operators in south-east Europe and central Asia. Sikorsky Aerospace Services (SAS) is the aftermarket business of Sikorsky Aircraft Corp., a subsidiary of United Technologies Corp.

FAA Approves Sikorsky Aircraft’s New Platform Approach System for S-92® Helicopters — Feature Offers Enhanced Safety Through Reduced Pilot Workload

Sikorsky Aircraft Corp. today announced the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has approved a new functionality on the S-92® helicopter to provide offshore oil operators with an automated approach that reduces cockpit workload by 60 percent and allows safer operations under challenging weather and operating conditions. Sikorsky, a subsidiary of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX), developed the new safety feature in close collaboration with PHI, Inc., an important Sikorsky customer that is operating S-92 and S-76® helicopters in the Gulf of Mexico, providing transportation to offshore oil workers to the platforms there.

Sikorsky Issues Statement on Presidential Helicopter Program

Following the U.S. Navy’s release today of the final Request for Proposals for The Presidential Helicopter Replacement Program (VXX), Sikorsky Aircraft issued the following statement: The men and women of Sikorsky and Lockheed Martin are ready to offer Sikorsky’s proven S-92® helicopter in response to the U.S. Navy’s formal Request for Proposals to build the next Marine One helicopter fleet.

Pratt & Whitney Employees Inducted into University of Connecticut’s Academy of Distinguished Engineers

Pratt & Whitney Chief Operating Officer Paul Adams and engineer Scott Beecher will be inducted into the University of Connecticut’s Academy of Distinguished Engineers at a ceremony this evening. Adams will receive the 2013 Distinguished Engineering Leadership Award for his career accomplishments and dedication to the future generation of engineers. Beecher will receive the Distinguished Professional Achievement Award, which is presented to UConn School of Engineering alumni who have contributed greatly to the engineering profession. Pratt & Whitney is a United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX) company.

Cloud Cap Technology Gimbals now to include HD

In order to provide greater flexibility for customers to address varied mission profiles, UTC Aerospace Systems has launched a new line of Cloud Cap Technology HD (high definition) TASE stabilized camera systems. The updates add HD imaging and HD downlink capability to the TASE 300 and 400 systems. The systems are housed in a 7.5lb, 7 inch diameter sphere making them ideal for both manned and unmanned systems and will be available for customer shipment in May 2013 (TASE400HD) with the additional products to follow (TASE 310HD, TASE350HD).
